This house is a three-level, 5,000+ square foot single family home custom-built by Architect Gregory Sharp.
The front door opens to level 1 – a basement/first floor hybrid. A guest bedroom and full bathroom, laundry, storage and unfinished basement space being occupied by a home office are on this floor. The stairs that take you to the second floor are surrounded by glass, and there is a mirroring staircase outside the windows leading to the back yard.
The second floor has an open floor plan with a living room with fireplace featuring 12′ ceilings, an enormous black kitchen (featuring an indoor pizza oven)/dining/great room, a tv room/den, a home office and full bathroom. The floors on the first and second floors are unfinished concrete and extremely tough. The front of the house faces west and has unobstructed views of the Hudson River. The house has ceiling-to-floor windows and custom-built sliding steel doors leading out to a gorgeous deck, creating an indoor-outdoor California modern feel. The East-facing rear of the house faces a charming woods and century old landscaping details.
The home office and tv/den feature custom-built pivoting steel doors, opening both rooms entirely to the outdoors. The second floor also features an unfinished screened-in porch with a fireplace. The striking modern staircase to the third floor are a main feature of the house, custom-built out of welded steel. The third floor features three bedrooms – a boy’s and girls’ bedroom each with east-facing windows and a west(river-view) facing master bedroom. The children share a blue tiled bathroom and the master suite features lilac-veined marble throughout. The master bedroom has a large balcony and the master bath leads to a rooftop garden above the kitchen.
